The Jasper King Trust

What we do

The Jasper King Trust was set up to make a real difference to families affected by a cancer diagnosis.

The Jasper King Trust (JKT) raises money to fund family breaks, either on the Isle of Eigg or at Harvest Moon, Lochhouses, East Lothian, as a way of supporting those families, at a point when they feel their world is closing in around them.

JKT aims to create a lasting legacy in Jasper’s name, helping to create positive memories and experiences for families, and helping to build self-confidence and self-esteem in some places which held special significance for Jasper, his wife Sharon, his family and friends.

What does a typical respite holiday look like?

We provide the self catering accommodation, and the rest is up to you to decide what your holiday looks like.

Our holidays typically run Monday – Friday at Harvest Moon Holidays in East Lothian. These are in beach huts which sleep 6 comfortably. It’s up to you if you’d like the same guests throughout the week or for friends and family to take turns holidaying with you.

It’s a five minute walk to the beach, there are free roaming chickens and goats to pet during your stay. Some people love just taking a book and a moment to unwind and process.

If you want to explore further afield there is the town of North Berwick (15 mins drive) and Dunbar (15 mins drive) to explore. The National Museum of Flight is nearby and we love Foxlake if you’re keen on being active during your holiday.

The huts are self catered, it’s worth noting that they do not have electricity and are heated by an Aga stove which is suitable for cooking on. You’ll also have access to a BBQ / Fire pit.

Due to there being no electricity, the beach huts are not suitable for those with medical devices which require 230volt power. Harvest Moon is beach side and this can make accessibility difficult for those who need extra mobility support.

Please chat to us about your needs during the referral process. Harvest Moon cannot allow pets due to being a working farm.

Donate to JKT

We need some copy here to encourage people to donate and explain what their money does to help people who use JKT for resbite holidays.
